Healthy Hair, Beautifully Styled: Signature Techniques from Our Chair

Great hair is never just a product or a trend. It is the right technique, chosen for your hair type, done with care, and backed by a routine you can keep at home. At Elite Elegance Studio in Pitampura, we see the same story every week. Delhi's hard water, winter dryness, monsoon humidity and festive-season heat styling all leave their mark. The good news: almost every hair concern has a technique built to solve it.

In this guide, our hair team walks you through the techniques we use most in the chair, how each one is done, and the real benefits you can expect. Use it to plan your next appointment, or simply to understand your hair better.

1. It starts with a consultation and hair analysis

Every service at our studio begins with a conversation, not a pair of scissors. Before we recommend a cut, colour or treatment, we need to understand what your hair is made of and what it has been through.

The technique

  • Hair history: past colour, chemical treatments, heat tools, medication and recent stress or illness all affect how hair behaves.

  • Texture, density and porosity check: we feel and test strands to see how fast they absorb and lose moisture.

  • Scalp and AI hair analysis: a magnified scalp scan shows oiliness, flaking, buildup and the density of follicles, so we are not guessing.

  • Goal setting: we agree on the look you want, the upkeep you can manage, and what is realistic for your hair today.

The benefits

  • The right service for your hair, not the most popular one.

  • Fewer surprises, such as colour turning brassy or a treatment that does not suit your texture.

  • Early warning on scalp issues that need a trichologist or dermatologist.

  • A clear baseline, so we can track progress over your next few visits.

2. Precision haircuts: the foundation of every style

A good cut makes every other service look better, and it makes your daily styling faster. We choose the cutting technique based on your face shape, hair density and how much time you want to spend styling.

Layering

  • How it works: hair is cut at different lengths, elevated at set angles, so the shorter pieces sit on top of the longer ones.

  • Benefits: adds movement and volume to fine or flat hair, removes weight from thick hair, and frames the face.

Texturising and point cutting

  • How it works: the stylist cuts into the ends vertically, or uses thinning shears in targeted sections, instead of cutting straight across.

  • Benefits: softens blunt lines, reduces bulk without losing length, and helps hair fall naturally.

Blunt and one-length cuts

  • How it works: hair is cut straight across with minimal elevation for a clean, solid perimeter.

  • Benefits: makes fine hair look thicker at the ends and gives a sleek, polished finish.

Dry cutting for curls and waves

  • How it works: curly hair is cut dry, curl by curl, in its natural state, so we can see exactly where each curl sits.

  • Benefits: avoids surprises from shrinkage, gives a balanced shape, and keeps the curl pattern intact.

Regular trims

  • How it works: removing 1 to 2 cm every 8 to 12 weeks, depending on your hair's condition and length goals.

  • Benefits: trims away split ends before they travel up the strand, so you keep more length in the long run.

3. Blow-dry and styling: salon finish, done safely

Styling is where your hair gets its personality for the day, or the event. The secret to a long-lasting finish is preparation and controlled heat, not more heat.

Professional blow-dry

  • How it works: hair is towel-blotted, protected with a heat-protectant, rough-dried to about 80 percent, then sectioned and dried with a round or paddle brush, nozzle pointed down the hair shaft.

  • Benefits: the downward airflow flattens the cuticle, so hair looks smoother and shinier, and the style holds for days, not hours.

Curls and waves with tongs and irons

  • How it works: small, clean sections are wrapped around the barrel at a temperature matched to hair type, lower for fine or coloured hair, then cooled in place before brushing out.

  • Benefits: defined, bouncy curls or soft beach waves that last through a function, with less damage than repeated high-heat passes.

Event and bridal styling

  • How it works: updos, braids and buns are built on a prepared base with texturising products, padding where needed, and secure pinning, planned around the outfit, jewellery and dupatta.

  • Benefits: a look that stays comfortable and camera-ready for hours, through pheras, photos and dancing.

Heat-free styling

  • How it works: braid-outs, twist-outs, flexi rods and overnight setting for clients who want a break from heat.

  • Benefits: gives hair recovery time while still delivering shape and wave.

4. Hair colour: dimension, coverage and confidence

Modern colour is less about one flat shade and more about light, depth and how gracefully it grows out. We always run a patch test and a strand test before colour, especially for first-timers and anyone with a sensitive scalp.

Key benefits

Typical upkeep

Balayage

Lightener or colour is hand-painted freehand onto the surface of selected sections, heavier towards the ends

Anyone wanting a natural, sun-kissed look

Soft, blended grow-out with no harsh line; adds dimension; easy to personalise

Toner refresh every 6–8 weeks; re-lighten every 3–4 months

Ombre

Colour graduates from darker roots to noticeably lighter mid-lengths and ends

Medium to long hair; a bolder statement

Strong contrast; roots stay natural, so regrowth is not obvious

Low; mainly gloss and ends care

Global colour

One shade applied evenly from root to tip

Full colour change, rich brunettes, reds and burgundies

Uniform, glossy finish; full grey coverage with permanent shades

Root touch-up every 4–6 weeks

Highlights

Fine sections are woven out and lightened in foils

Adding brightness close to the face or across the head

Brighter, more defined lift than balayage; good for fine hair

Every 8–12 weeks

Grey blending

Demi-permanent or low-lift colour softens greys so they blend rather than vanish

Early greys; men and women wanting a natural result

No hard regrowth line; looks subtle; gentler than full coverage

Every 6–8 weeks, flexible

Our advice: colour and smoothing on the same day is rarely ideal. If you want both, we usually colour first and plan the treatment with a gap, so neither result is compromised. Use a sulphate-free, colour-safe shampoo at home to keep tones vibrant.

5. Smoothing treatments: keratin, hair botox, smoothening and rebonding

These four are the most requested services before the festive and wedding season, and the most confused. The key difference is whether the treatment conditions the hair or permanently changes its structure.

Best for

Keratin

A protein-based formula coats the strand and is sealed with a flat iron

Frizz-free, softer, more manageable hair; natural wave mostly retained

3–5 months

Frizzy, humidity-prone hair that you still want to look natural

Hair botox

A deep-conditioning blend of proteins, amino acids and oils fills gaps in damaged strands; contains no botulinum toxin

Shine, softness, repair and some frizz control; no real straightening

2–4 months

Dry, damaged or coloured hair needing repair

Smoothening

A mild relaxing cream softens the hair's internal bonds, followed by ironing and neutralising

Sleek, smooth hair with some natural body

4–6 months; regrowth needs touch-up

Wavy or frizzy hair wanting a sleek but soft finish

Rebonding

A stronger relaxer restructures the hair's bonds, then hair is ironed straight and neutralised

Pin-straight hair, permanent on treated lengths

Permanent on treated hair; roots every 4–6 months

Very curly or coarse hair wanting dead-straight results

What we tell every client

  • Ask which formula is being used and whether it is formaldehyde-free. Our team will always tell you exactly what is going on your hair.

  • Smoothening and rebonding are chemical restructuring. Done too often, or over bleached hair, they cause breakage. We strand-test first.

  • Aftercare matters as much as the service: use sulphate-free shampoo, avoid tying hair tightly or tucking it behind the ears for the first 2–3 days, and follow your stylist's guidance on the first wash.

  • Book 7–10 days before an event. Treated hair needs a few days and a wash or two to settle into its best look.

6. Scalp and repair therapies: healthy hair grows from a healthy scalp

Most hair problems start at the scalp or deep inside the strand. These therapies work on the root cause rather than the surface.

Hair spa

  • How it works: cleanse, scalp massage, a nourishing mask matched to your hair type, and steam to help it penetrate.

  • Benefits: restores moisture and softness, improves shine, and the massage relaxes you. A monthly spa is ideal in Delhi winters, when hair turns dry and brittle.

Scalp detox

  • How it works: a gentle exfoliating and clarifying treatment removes product buildup, excess oil, pollution residue and hard-water minerals from the scalp.

  • Benefits: a fresher, less itchy scalp, better-performing treatments afterwards, and hair that feels lighter and cleaner for longer.

Hair fall therapy

  • How it works: after a scalp analysis, we use targeted scalp serums, massage to boost circulation, and a strengthening routine for the lengths, planned as a course over several sessions.

  • Benefits: reduces breakage, supports a healthier scalp environment and helps you understand what is driving your hair fall.

A note on hair fall: losing roughly 50 to 100 strands a day is normal, and seasonal shedding is common. If you notice sudden heavy shedding, patches or a widening part, salon therapy should go hand in hand with a dermatologist's check, since thyroid, iron levels, hormones and stress can all play a role.

7. Your at-home routine for Delhi's weather

What you do between appointments decides how long your salon results last. Here is the routine we recommend to most clients, adjusted by season.

Every week

  1. Wash 2–3 times a week with a shampoo suited to your hair: sulphate-free for coloured or treated hair.

  2. Condition the lengths every wash, and use a mask once a week.

  3. Apply a heat protectant every time you blow-dry, straighten or curl.

  4. Detangle gently from the ends upward with a wide-tooth comb, never when hair is soaking wet and stretched.

  5. Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase, or tie hair in a loose braid, to cut friction and frizz.

Season by season

  • Winter (Nov–Feb): dry air and indoor heating pull moisture out. Add a leave-in conditioner, avoid very hot showers, and book a hair spa monthly.

  • Summer (Apr–Jun): sweat and sun fade colour and dry the ends. Cover your hair outdoors and rinse sweat out promptly.

  • Monsoon (Jul–Sep): humidity brings frizz and an oily, itchy scalp. Keep the scalp clean and dry, use anti-frizz serum on the lengths, and avoid leaving hair tied up wet.

  • Hard water, all year: mineral buildup leaves hair dull and rough. A shower filter and an occasional clarifying wash or scalp detox make a visible difference.

Products we use and stock

In the studio we work with authentic, professional-grade products, including L'Oréal Professionnel ranges such as Liss Unlimited for frizz control, Inforcer for strengthening breakage-prone hair, and Curl Expression for curly hair. Ask your stylist which suits your hair before you buy, because the right product depends on your texture and treatment history.

Frequently asked questions

Keratin or smoothening: which should I choose? Choose keratin if you want frizz control with a natural look and less commitment. Choose smoothening if you want visibly straighter, sleeker hair and are comfortable with regrowth touch-ups.

Does hair botox contain Botox? No. It is a deep-conditioning treatment named for its "filling" effect on damaged strands. There are no injections and no botulinum toxin.

Can I colour my hair after a keratin or smoothening treatment? Yes, but wait about two weeks unless your stylist advises otherwise, and always tell them about the treatment so they can adjust the formula.

How often should I get a haircut if I am growing my hair? Every 8 to 12 weeks. Small, regular trims remove split ends before they cause breakage, so you actually keep more length.

Is balayage high-maintenance? Less than most colour. Because it is painted softly away from the roots, it grows out gracefully. Most clients refresh tone every 6–8 weeks and lighten again every 3–4 months.
