Getting started: Purchases
Record products bought from suppliers so salon stock costs and purchasing history remain clear.
Overview
Purchases record supplies or retail stock coming into the salon. Consistent entries help owners understand supplier spending and inventory costs.
Who can use it
Owners and managers can manage purchase records. POS-authorised staff may enter them where their role permits; access can be limited by plan.
Before you begin
Keep the supplier invoice, purchase date, product names, quantities, unit costs and tax information available.
Steps
- Open Purchases from the dashboard.
- Start a purchase and select or enter the supplier details requested.
- Add each product, quantity and cost exactly as shown on the supplier invoice.
- Review totals and date, then save the purchase.
- Compare the record with stock and supplier paperwork.
Best practices
Enter purchases promptly, use consistent product names and keep the original invoice. Separate back-bar supplies from retail stock where the screen allows.
Important rules and limitations
A purchase record is not a customer sale and does not replace a supplier invoice. Do not invent tax rates or quantities; use the authoritative information available to you and consult your accountant for statutory treatment.
Troubleshooting
If totals differ, compare quantity, unit cost and tax line by line. If stock does not look right, confirm the purchase was saved and that the product matches the existing catalogue item.
